Saturday was a tough game for the Glades as they lost 5-1 in a game that was much closer than the score indicated. The glades lone goal came in the second period from Sean Nelson off a beautiful feed from Dom Trento that send him in all alone on the Breakers goalie. Jeremy Eck made 24 saves on 29 shots.
The second game of the weekend saw the glades take destiny into their own hands in this must-win game. Midway through the second period the boys found themselves trailing 2-0. This deficit didn’t stop Alex Goodhue, the team’s assistant captain from ruining the Breakers shutout with a rebound goal from the right side. Only moments later, Mikhail Urazov of Voronegh, Russia tied the game at 2-2 with a beautiful rebound shot from the left hash-marks. With all the momentum in the Glades favor, Brock Mcginn was able to give the go-ahead goal to his team thanks to a tremendous feed by Benson Roush. Albeit a furious flurry by the Breakers in the third, both teams were held scoreless due to great goaltending on both sides. Dylan Troiano made 27 saves on 29 shots for the Glades. Assistant Coach, Andy Corran had this to say about the weekend, “While I was disappointed with the way we played on Saturday, I think we battled really hard in our game on Sunday. We were able to come back from a 2-0 deficit and it’s things like that that truly show what kind of character we have in our locker room.”
The Glades are back in action this weekend against the Rochester Stars Saturday at 5:45pm and Sunday at 12:30pm at Leddy Park.
