The Green Mountain Glades faced 2nd place Northern Division rival Boston Jr. Bruins this past weekend and came up scratching their heads. The Glades put forward two very strong efforts only to come up empty.
The first game was played Saturday night at Cairns Arena. The Game started the way Green Mountain was hoping by taking a first period lead off a goal from Ian Reopel. Both teams traded quality chances in the first two periods with the Glades the only ones to show anything for it. The Glades took a 2-0 nothing lead in the second with a goal from Nick Geraci off an odd angle shot that directed off the Bruins goaltender's skate and in the net. All the Glades needed to do was weather the storm in the third for a crucial two points in the playoff race. They were however unable to as the Bruins came out and scored to cut the lead in half with under two minutes gone in the third period. The Glades would respond however with a goal from Connor Anthoine and an assist from linemate Zach Vit to make it 3-1. This is where things came un done for the Glades as the Bruins responded just over a minute later to cut the lead to 3-2. The Glades then took two penalties which put them dow 5-3 and the Bruins PP made no mistake tying the game with just under 7 minutes to play. Then got the go ahead goal just 2 minutes later off a shot from the point which went off a player in front on to the stick of a Bruin player on the back door and put it in the partially empty net. They would add an empty net goal with just 36 seconds to go to seasl the 5-3 win.
The Glades would try to rebound the next morning as they played at Gutterson Arena. This time the Bruins would get on the board first with a power play goal 7 minutes in the game. The Glades would pounce right back with a power play goal of their own when Mark Grinhaus recieved a pass in the slot from Zemgus Girgensons and beat the goalie between the legs to tie things up. The Bruins would add another goal just before the first period ended when a costly turnover left the Bruins player alone against the Glades net minder Coulthard, and was able to just beat him low off of a deak in tight. The Glades would get the lone goal in the second when once again they capitalized on the powerplay. Nick Geraci finished off a good passing play that included Mark Grinhaus and Zemgus Girgensons. The teams would stay deadlocked for the remainder of the second and almost all of the third when the Bruins were the recipients of some great bounces coming out of their zone and through the neutral zone, where the puck could have been turned over 3 times, but landed on the Bruins forward stick in the slot and shot it over Coulthard's shoulder with only 1:32 left. The Glades got 1 more opportunity to tie the game with a 2 on 1 but were unable to finish it and suffered a heart breaking loss.

"We worked pretty hard this weekend to come out of the weekend with no points, I feel for the guys in the locker room after a loss like this one." Coach Line stated after Sunday's loss. " We have to pick ourselves back up and get right back at it because we are still in the hunt for a playoff spot and feel very strongly about this teams abilities. If we continue to work we will get rewarded." Line finished.

The Glades will go on a short road trip Thursday when they trave to the New Hampshie Monarchs before they come back home for a weekend set against the New England Huskies Saturday and Sunday.
